New Web Design for U of Colorado Boulder and Bentley U

allie surdovelComment

Have been working on some new pages for University of Colorado, and University of Bentley for their career centers and Careeredge programs for Uconnect. Wanted to go with a modern and sleek flat design while still keeping a fun educational feel, and a simple and intuitive, beautiful UX for the student on the go.

Worked on creating a more visual pleasing and modern social feed for the Bentley Alumni page.

Natalia Burakowska Business Cards!

allie surdovelComment

Just designed some business cards for the apparel designer Natalia Burakowska. She wanted a sleek clean look with a bold edge. There are 2 versions a regular one, and one that leaves a little space for a red lipstick kiss to match her information. It will definitely make for a super memorable experience for whomever she decides deserves one of these fun cards!

New Letterpress cards / logo design

allie surdovelComment

I recently reworked a logo I design a while ago for Matthew Pandolfe a fashion Photographer based out of NYC, to print letterpress business cards in time for the upcoming fashion week. We decided to go with a grey on black paper with a copper metallic edging. Can't wait to get to work on them- Here is the mock up!

Cats

allie surdovelComment

I'm working on finishing my 'Daddy Cat' font, a sort of art nouveau cat font. I'm disappointed with the selection of cat fonts out there, except for Helvticats by Bethany Lesko which is amazing (and I just my received a print of).

Need to finish it up tonight so I can get a plate made and letterpress it this weekend.

Also, I got a ton of large vinyl prints of weird cat repeats done since they were on sale for $10 for 2.5 x 6 ft (crazy!). Just got delivered today.. Now to figure out what to do with them... Nut Nut approves.

Repeat for princess costume garment bag

allie surdovelComment

I have been doing some freelance work for a toy company in New Jersey called Cartwheel Kids recently. I have worked on creating the packaging in the theme of "Glamor Princess" for princess costumes and jewelry etc. The packaging is made to look like trompe l'oeil garment trunk or chest covered in jewels, pearls, and fun metallic details. It is made so it can be continually used after purchase as a container for added product value.

I also just finished creating a print for a product extra, a garment bag to contain the princess costumes to give the feel of a fancy boutique to the clothing for little girls. The bag will be printed on one side and solid on the other.

Infographics!

I just started working on my first info-graphic that may be used by a local educational freelancer. It has been an interesting experience thus far trying to create a visual process guide. I also am working on creating some icons for the 5 key steps in this educational process.

Restoration

painting, restorationallie surdovelComment

I just finished up this restoration for Complements Gallery in Smithfield, RI. It seemed like it was from around the late 19th century or early 20th, and it was badly re-stretched around the 70s. It was extremely dull, dirty and deteriorating and had a small hole that I repaired in the middle of the tree base in the center of the painting. I cleaned it, removed the varnish, brightened up the colors and added gold detailing where it had come off.

Upholstered headboard!

allie surdovelComment

I'm very excited, I just completed my first piece of furniture! I made a tufted upholstered headboard for my house mate's bedroom. It was great to see it come together! I found the fabric at savers and knew I needed to do something with it, it was so interesting. Sadly it does not match my color scheme in my room- so the next will be mine, once I decide on a fabric. It was not very expensive, and only took a few days. I'm going to try and make more as soon as I buy a jigsaw to create more interesting headboard shapes and make add furniture tacks or trim into the next design.
